Psychiatric Survivor - I WILL NOT BE OPPRESSED.

I am a psychiatric survivor. The mental health system is oppressive. Lables, addiction, poverty, fear... these are the tools the system  uses to oppress us.

In the psychiatric ward of a hospital  I  was over-medicated to sedation daily. I became addicted to those drugs. I was given several diagnoses, which  I care not to list. Diagnoses are labels that condemn individuals to specific drugs, treatments, and prejudice by most psychiatrists and psychologists, and prevent people from being able to get affordable health care.

I am fortunate. I have been able to get off psychiatric medications and learn to cope  in other ways, and use food and herbs as healthy medicine. I am now clean and  sober in Recovery. I have health care through  my work, helping others. I will not be drugged. I will not be labeled. I will not be fooled. I will Not be oppReSSED.

Denied Disability- I am the 99%

I was denied disability because The Hartford Insurance company falsified my
medical information based on a make believe conversation with my Dr, then
submitted my disability payments as wages to the IRS causing them to think
I owe them $1000.00 USD. I have gone without much needed medical care for
10 years even though I suffer from 10+ medical conditions. I live with
chronic pain and debilitating episodes. I should be homeless but I am not,

"The System Is Screwed" Occupy Eugene

I come from a working class family from Massachusetts. Many of my family members served in the Armed Forces. My father is a Vietnam Veteran who moved to Oregon several years ago for cost of living reasons. He and my mother still had a hefty mortgage in Massachusetts after being bankrupted due to hospital bills incurred when my mother almost died years ago. My father, finally this year (after 45 years), is collecting PARTIAL disability for the PTSD he so clearly suffered from as well as agent-orange exposure as a marine infantryman.

I worked my way through college to become an RN. I have worked for years taking care of other people. I work full-time, often 12 hour days, and am barely getting by supporting my family in my small rental apartment. I would love to own a home someday. And yes, I tried that once with my well paid engineer ex-husband. We were forced to short sale when we divorced because of the "housing bubble" we were trapped in. Now, my once perfect credit is screwed.

I watch MY retirement money dwindle down to nothing. The only real savings I have because I was raised to believe that was the smart thing to do. I cannot access it because of penalties and service fees. Money I worked hard for.

I have health and dental insurance as a full time working nurse. But, when my tooth abscessed last year the dental work exceeded my benefits. Now, I still pay credit care every month for the work. In the same month, my 33 year old unemployed, part-time student friend severed his finger. He paid nothing (zero dollars) for the surgery that was required from OHP.

The system is screwed. I, too, am sick of politicians loyal to Wall Street. I, too, am sick of over-paying for food that doesn't nourish. And, insurance that doesn't insure.

I am part of the 99%.

I No Longer Trust the Big Pharma Controlled Health Care System.

I am 31 & was diagnosed with crohn's disease after taking Accutane, a drug approved by the Big Pharma funded FOA. I now need expensive health insurance b/c I was discriminated @ 1st for having a "pre-existing" condition. I no longer trust the big Pharma controlled health care system.
I am the 99%. I am here & very, very pissed off.

University Student- I WILL NOT BE SILENCED!

I am a college student who has phenomenal and underpaid professors. My state is cutting funding for my education and the RICH get TAX BREAKS. The administration refuses to pay my profs fairly - decreasing the value of my education --> MY FUTURE! The university president says the dispute is between "us grown-ups." I REFUSE to be a child who is seen but NOT HEARD.

We Are the 99%

I Am the 99%

I am 32 years old. I have a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree. I went back to school for my master’s because I could only find work as an administrative assistant with my bachelor’s in English. When I graduated with my master’s in 2010, I accepted a job as a caregiver. In November 2010 I found a part-time job in my field, as a temp. I worked as a part-time temp for eight months before they hired me for a part-time job with benefits. I paid $300 per month for COBRA health insurance for a year before that happened. Today, I have four part-time jobs and $20,000 in student loan debt. I use the local food pantry because I am barely getting by.
I am the 99 percent.
